How do you connect Microsoft Advertising to Claude?

By Tom Claydon, Co-founder, Nudge · Updated 22 Oct 2026

Use Microsoft's official Microsoft Advertising MCP server. It is free to connect and read-only: Microsoft says "The tools never modify account data." It has nine tools, including change history for the last 180 days. To add it to Claude you register your own app in Azure, then add a custom connector.

Disclosure: Nudge publishes this page. We make Nudge, a Google Ads MCP server, and have no tie to Microsoft or the tools below. Facts come from Microsoft's own documentation, dated 20 October 2026 and read on 22 October 2026. We have not tested this server.

What can it do?

Microsoft's nine tools: GetAccounts, GetCampaigns, GetAdGroups, GetAds, GetKeywords, GetAssetGroups, GetAssets, GetAudienceAssociations and GetChangeHistory. Change history covers the last 180 days. For most tools, performance figures come back only when you give a date range.

How do you set it up with Claude?

From Microsoft's setup guide:

  1. Register an app in Azure (Microsoft gives Azure CLI steps).
  2. Add https://claude.ai/api/mcp/auth_callback as a redirect address for that app.
  3. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the URL https://partner.api.bingads.microsoft.com/ext/mcp/vnext. (Microsoft's guide still calls this Settings, then Connectors.)
  4. Choose "Use your own OAuth client" and paste your app's client ID.
  5. Sign in with your Microsoft account. Work, school and personal accounts all work.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector first.

Is it free?

Microsoft says: "Yes, it's free to connect to the Microsoft Advertising MCP server." You may still need a paid plan for the AI assistant you use.

What if you need changes, not just reports?

Microsoft's server only reads. Other options say they can write; check their safety steps first.

How can a PPC agency use it?

Our suggestions:

  • Compare Microsoft Advertising and Google Ads results for the same client in one question, with a Google Ads server connected too. Microsoft's own use cases note this needs both connected.
  • Read the last 180 days of change history before a client review.
